Who has what rights to a Twitter name?
Barack Obama's campaign recently took back control of a MySpace profile (that bore Obama's name) that a supporter had built up with content and 160,000 friends. They refused to pay for the time and effort that the supporter had put into the page and MySpace handed over the account.
I wonder what will happen with companies, famous people or even disputes between businesses with the same name on Twitter. Has there been any disputes over names? Settlements? Transfer payments for a name? Let us know in the comments if you know of any!

It looks like Barack Obama may use Twitter as part of his presidential campaign
This is an update since our last post on this subject. Last time we posted there were no updates on Obama's Twitter site . Now there is a small improvement which indicates that the account MAY not be a fake. It says
"Heading to first presidential debate tonight!!!! Hope you watch tonight at 7pm EST on MSNBC. visit » link to BarackObama.com to comment after! "
We will wait and see if he engages his twittering electorate... to be continued.

John Edwards is all a Twitter!
If Obama is slow to the mark in getting on Twitter or if he will not use it at all remains to be seen. The John Edwards campaign however is not afraid of new technology nor ignorant of the power of social networks. John is on Twitter answering the Twitter question of "What are you doing?"... Well it looks like his staff are on it anyway.
The last update was 5 days ago which says (from staff): Sen. Edwards is in Chapel Hill with his family.
Anyway, John is with the times and smart to update his electorate this way. He already has 2000+ friends and almost 2000 followers.
His profile can be seen here http://twitter.com/johnedwards
In other (ex) presidential + Twitter news, it looks like someone has nabbed Bill Clinton's name and are writing a fake Twitter blog in his guise. http://twitter.com/billclinton

Is Barack Obama about to start to Twitter?
It is interesting to watch which presidential candidates are realizing (and utilizing) the power of new media, the internet and social networking. We found a Twitter account called Obama. Is this real Obama about to start to use Twitter as part of his campaign communications? Or is it a fake account? http://twitter.com/obama
