There seems to be a niche for every group out there from kids to grandmas, so why would it be any different for the chef or cook? And what better way to share your recipes, find new recipes, share tips and tricks with other cooks and chefs, than to do it all in one place like a social network?
Social networking sites are great for those who have a passion for cooking. Instead of being grouped with the rest of the world on those social networks that cater to everyone, they don't have to sift through any unnecessary topics they might find on a regular network. They also won't be hindered by those who may simply think cooking is a job or a chore, whereas the cook or chef generally sees cooking as a passion.
There are some good sites out there that will help the cook or chef get in close contact with others that feel the same passion for the art of cooking and are more than willing to share their individual knowledge with others.
- Tons of Recipes - Is probably more for the person who loves to cook but does it more for a hobby and probably doesn't get paid for what they do. Here, just like other sites you can upload photos, videos, join blogs, have your own page, and search for other cooks to befriend.
- BakeSpace - Is the cook or bakers rendition of MySpace. It offers the same types of things that MySpace does with the exception that everything is geared to attract the cook or baker and they make sure to let you know that there is a definite distinction between the two. A little different, they give you your own "My Kitchen" page instead of a profile page, which is kind of cute.
- Royalty's Cooks and Chefs Network - Is not only for the cook or chef with a passion for his or her field of choice, but is also geared to the single cook or chef. Not only do they come to share recipes, tips and tricks, they also come to meet other cooks and chefs that are single in hopes of connecting with someone that just might be their "soul mate". Interesting concept combining a specialized social network with a dating network.
- Gourmandia - Is geared more towards the gourmet chef rather than the every day cook. Not that this should stop anyone who loves to cook from joining. It just seems to lean more to gourmet foods than done home cooking. As always it offers most features other sites do as photo uploading, videos, blogs, chat, music, polls, groups, friends, events, and a couple of extras; classified ads and contests.
- CookEatShare - Is unique in that it allows the every day cook connect with real chefs from around the world, even allowing them to subscribe to individual chef's recipes. It gives you the opportunity to search for the top rated recipes in the world and share them with your family and friends. You can even save and manage your own recipes on the site.
- Foodcreations - It's design is very eye appealing to begin with, even the non cook might enjoy the layout alone. Most social networks, even the ones that are niches, always seem to have connections with Twitter, Facebook and MySpace, so what makes this site a little more unique is that it doesn't connect to any of the other big sites. It may not offer all the glitz or glitter of some of the bigger sites but it could be the perfect fit for someone who just wants to get down to basics, their topic of choice, cooking. They do have a couple of cool features for the cook. You can create your own cookbook online and there are cooking competitions between fellow members.
Whatever site a chef or cook might turn to, any or all of these might be quite beneficial for the cook who is looking for new recipes, new ideas, and new tips and tricks in the kitchen.
